What is better? Zaoan Legs( 8 arn, 2% physical dmg) or Dwarven legs (7 and 3%)?
I wear dwarven legs (3%), but also wear zaoan helmet (bonus %physical dmg) and guardian boots (2%).
This 1% (or less when wear other EQ with bonus psychical dmg) difference beetwen these legs is more useful than difference 1 arm? I didn't count it.

It would depend on the damage taken, I don't know exact figures, but you'd need to get a few hundred damage in melee for the difference to be that much better... But for bosses and higher end monsters dwarven legs would be better, but they'd kind of even out to Zaoan being better at lower damages.
I don't know exact damages though.

for lower damages zaoan legs are always better (or at least the same) than golden legs - the damage reduction is rounded up - even if creature does 1 dmg - then your dmg is reduced by 1!. That nullfiles the 1 arm difference (sadly I didn't thought about that while preparing the comparison picture). Now when we would compare dwarven legs to zaon legs -> zaon legs will be better while fighting with weaker creatures, but when you will have to block stronger ones then dwarven legs are a better choice. Im too lazy to make the calculations now but the dmg dealt by the stronger creature would have to be around 100 dmg avg to make the legs similar. The higher dmg than 100 would make the dwarven legs better and better.

If you tell me the other equipment you wear and the armor values, I can figure it out for you.

I am rather interested so... I have Zaoan helmet arm 9 with 5% physical protection, fireborn titan armor with 15arm, draken boots with 3 arm, platinum amulet with 2 arm and if relevant Necromancer shield 37 def...
Trying to toss up between golden, zaoan and dwarven legs... Arm 9, Arm 8(2% phys resist) arm 7(3% phys resist)...

So your total armor is 29 armor, which is essentially the same as 28 armor. That means adding an odd number armor (7) will make you defend exactly the same as an even number armor (8).

29+9=38 = 28 avg reduction
29+8=37= 36 = 26.5 avg reduction
29+7=36 = 26.5 avg reduction

So if you choose between zaoan and dwarven with that set, dwarven is better for sure. For glegs to be better you have to get the same or better than an average 1.5 reduction. You also have to consider the 5% physical protection from your helmet. You could consult Tarsal's Item resistance research article, but I will sum it up for you:

1. The highest resistance is calculated first, result is rounded down.
2. The next highest resistance is taken off that number, result is rounded down, etc.
3. After resistance, your armor is then taken off.

So based upon your set with 5% and 3% here are the damage ranges and the subsequent reduction in health:

1 dmg = 1 reduction
2-20 dmg = 2 hp reduction
21-35 dmg = 3 hp reduction
36-40 dmg = 4 hp reduction
41-60 dmg = 5 hp reduction
61-70 dmg = 6 hp reduction
71-80 dmg = 7 hp reduction
81-100 dmg = 8 hp reduction
101-106 dmg = 9 hp reduction
107-120 dmg = 10 hp reduction
etc...

If you wore golden legs instead (I added only the 1.5 extra taken off from armor and took away % from dwarven legs)

1 dmg = 1 hp reduction
2 dmg = 2 hp reduction
3-20 dmg = 2.5 hp reduction
21-40 dmg = 3.5 hp reduction
41-60 dmg = 4.5 hp reduction
61-80 dmg = 5.5 hp reduction
81-100 dmg = 6.5 hp reduction
101-120 dmg = 7.5 hp reduction
etc...

If the average damage is above 36 damage its better to use dwarven legs than golden legs.

- Guardian Boots = arm 3, 2% physical
- Dwarven legs = arm 7, 3% physical
- Zaoan Helmet = arm 9, 5% physical
- Platinum amulet = arm 2
- Fireborn Giant Armor = arm15

So in this case again, zaoan legs will not make a difference for you since you are at a total of 36 armor with your current set, 37 armor is the same thing.

Current Set Physical Reduction (not counting armor values):
1 dmg = 1 hp reduction
2 dmg = 2 hp reduction
3-20 dmg = 3 hp reduction
21-35 dmg = 4 hp reduction
36-40 dmg = 5 hp reduction
41-55 dmg = 6 hp reduction
56-60 dmg = 7 hp reduction
61-70 dmg = 8 hp reduction
71-80 dmg = 9 hp reduction
81-100 dmg = 10 hp reduction
101-106 dmg = 11 hp reduction
107-110 dmg = 12 hp reduction
111-120 dmg = 13 hp reduction

Changing to Golden Legs (adding 1.5 dmg reduction and - 3% physical for legs)

1 dmg = 1 hp reduction
2 dmg = 2 hp reduction
3 dmg = 3 hp reduction
4-20 dmg = 3.5 hp reduction
21-40 dmg = 4.5 hp reduction
41-53 dmg = 5.5 hp reduction
54-60 dmg = 6.5 hp reduction
61-80 dmg = 7.5 hp reduction
81-100 dmg = 8.5 hp reduction
101-106 dmg = 9.5 hp reduction
107-120 dmg = 10.5 hp reduction

In your case if the average damage received is higher than 41, it is better to use dwarven legs.

I try count also.

I try compare sets with dvarven legs and zaoan legs.

with zaoan legs:

Zaoan helmet - 9 arm, 5% psyh,
Fireborn Giant Armor - 15 arm;
Emerald sword - 3 arm;
zaoan legs - 8 arm, 2% psyh,
guardian boots - 3 arm, 2% psyh,
platinum amulet - 2 arm,

total: 40 arm and 5%, 2%, 2%

with Dwarven Legs:

Zaoan helmet - 9 arm, 5% psyh,
Fireborn Giant Armor - 15 arm;
Emerald sword - 3 arm;
dwarven legs - 7 arm, 3% psyh,
guardian boots - 3 arm, 2% psyh,
platinum amulet - 2 arm,

total: 39. arm and 5%, 3%, 2%

Average reduction dmg for:
39 armor - 28 hp reduction
40 armor - 29.5 hp reduction.

Now I count by 100 dmg:

For zaoan legs:
1st step 100*0,95= 95
2nd step 95*0,98= 93
3rd step 93*0,02= 91
4th step 91-29,5 = 61,5

So total (avg) resistance is38,5

For dwarven legs:
1st step 100*0,95= 95
2nd step 95*0,97= 92
3rd step 92*0,98=90
4th step 90-28 = 62

So total (avg) resistance is38

So, for 100 dmg better are zaoan legs

Now I count by 200 dmg:

For zaoan legs:
1st step 200*95= 190
2nd step 190*0,98= 186
3rd step 186*0,98= 182
4th step 182-29,5 = 152,5

So total (avg) resistance is 47,5

For dwarven legs:
1st step 200*0,95= 190
2nd step 190*0,97= 184
3rd step 184*0,98= 180
4th step 180-28 = 152

So total (avg) resistance is: 48

So, for 200 dmg better are dwarven legs

Now I count by 400 dmg:

For zaoan legs:
1st step 400*95= 380
2nd step 380*0,98= 372
3rd step 372*0,98= 364
4th step 364-29,5 = 334,5

So total (avg) resistance is 65,5

For dwarven legs:
1st step 400*0,95= 380
2nd step 380*0,97= 368
3rd step 368*0,98= 360
4th step 360-28 = 332

So total (avg) resistance is 68

So, for 400 dmg better are dwarven legs

Now I count by 150 dmg:

For zaoan legs:
1st step 150*95= 142
2nd step 142*0,98= 139
3rd step 139*0,98= 136
4th step 136-29,5 = 106,5

So total (avg) resistance is 43,5

For dwarven legs:
1st step 150*0,95= 142
2nd step 142*0,97= 137
3rd step 368*0,98= 134
4th step 134-28 = 106

So total (avg) resistance is 44

So, for 150 dmg better are dwarven legs

Generally, In my opinionSystem of choice should be:

zaoan legs <150 dmg > dwarven legs

I don't know where is point, but i think is beetwen 130-150 dmg.

Do you think, are my calculations are rights?
