I believe one of the most intriguing things in Tibia is the famous Minotaur Mage's Room. As a long time rookgaard player, during several years I've seen people trying to find ways to open that closed door in hope to discover how to get to the portal inside and complete the (speculated to exist) Spike Sword Quest. Things like going there level 1 with no equips and never touched by any monster are just the most classic tries I can remember at this moment.

For me and mainly for my older rooker friend Teo Fawcet, however, one of the most intriguing things in this room was not the possibility of being “first” to complete an unsolved quest, but the existence of several chests that dispite of to be often kicked by the Minotaur Mage, they are rarely seen in the game screen.

During years we have wonderer “why did the crates never come to the right side of the room, where we can see them?”. Even in rarer ocasions when they did come to the right side of the room they almost instantly are carried away back to the left, where the game screen can't reach. It was like there's some kind of invisible wall preventing the chests of being kicked to where the player stands!

Meet the place

I know he has tried some hacks to see the beyond the wall, as well as rebuild the area in a unnoficial Server, but none of these remained conclusive and as years have passed, my friend stoped to play, then stoped to check out the news in forums, we lost contact and the mistery died as our other friends also stoped to log in in Roogaard until I finaly left to play on a sorceress with some of the same rook friends in other gameworld.

Several months later, in 2013, asked by Teo Fawcet who showed up by some reason, I had no answer to our mistery. Due this particular reason, couple months later during the test phase of the Summer Update 2013, easiest way to have none killing the Minotaur Mage Based Boss Apprentice Sheng. While I was in the midle of couple of tricks, my PC simply shut down and never came back to live, making me loose several data from the experiments.

In the begining of this year (2014), I finaly could afford new hardware pieces and find an answer to this very particular mistery that we carried during several years.
I did all the tests in Mainland, using wild creatures that also exists in Rookgaard (except for one as you will notice) and making them interact with movable furniture threw at or near them. Summon creature spell could have make my life easier, but I was looking for the most accurate behavior I could have in Rook reproduced in mainland. These are my results and conclusion.

Additional Info:
I did all my experiments in Plains of Havoc due the facility to find such creatures and for being such an open area free of walls and such obstacles. For two times (only), however, the proximity of bushes and trees made the testing materials be kicked to another direction different from the usual to save the item from being distroyed.

I could also notice that when stacked, the pile of testing materials inverted their position in the kicked stack as the item in the top of the pile becomes the one in the bottom for example. This iis a important information that leads to a cleary conclusion that the game mecanics of monsters kicking itens and players draging and droping item by item are the same.

Test 03
Materials:

Results:
Lost data. Insuficient and uncertain results.

Additional Info:
The experiments using the boss as testing subject were made in its natural habitat (Carlin Sword quest area), during the second part of Summer Update 2013. Most of the data was lost when my computed broke and this little was the only thing I could save from my HD and from couple private messages I had on Tibiabr forums but even with only this little it's possible to assume the results should be in the same pattern found with common creatures in Mainland.
It was also noticed that when the boss is at its distance limits (it behaviors to stay away from you and attack with magic spells), there is a chance that the materials are moved around it, even when the testing subject is stoped. Unfortunately, trying to reproduce and understand this phenomenon was the exact moment when my Mother Board burned out and I lost data, but I believe this happens because the creature executes some kind of control + movement action, where the character just turns around instead of actualy walk.
As the creatures used as testing subject have no lags to the server (they are part of it), I believe it's some kind of ilusion caused by the high speed in turning around and back again, similar to when runing away dragons turn around, spit fire and then back to where it was facing before but the efect the player sees is like the firebreath was sent from his tail, in some kind of fire fart. This effect is easy to be reproduced by mages hunting underwater areas like Calassa, where you move slower and take considerably longer to finish a step from a square to another.

Conclusion:
It's far easy to notice that all testing subjects and experiments resulted in a default kick to west while moving up or down. Also, the kick direction becomes the north if the creature is moving to any side.
Also, it's noticiable that this pattern is not impossible to be changed. When finding a obstacle, the item changes its direction to the next place free of blocking objects and safe, preventing from breaking, just like happens when you log in a character in a already occupied space.

Applicability to the locked chests and crates in Rookgaard:

Observing the pattern found, it's possible to figure out that there is not any kind of invisible border marking out the farther chests, crate and barrel locked can get. It is só rare to find this items in the visible side of the room because they would be kicked to the east, direction where we stand, only if there was a combined and unlikely random sequence of kicks that would cause them to break if they do not avoid the obstacle and/or there was also an unlikely sequency of “control + movement” kicks.

If I am not mistaken, those containers spawns by the wall and assuming that they will be kicked away in differents directions only due this prevent-to-break feature, the default is that they are kicked to the left (west) or North. It is also very important that when there is a player standing and watching the locked Minotaur Mage, the creature tends to behavior like it was attacking and stays away from the player limiting his movements to the sides, moving almost only up or down and being able to kick only to the west direction carrying the items away from player's eyes.
It is ironic, but in the end, the reason we could only see the misterious barrel, crate and chests for a very brief moment or could not see the them at all is exactly the act of sit there and try to see it.

Trivia:
If you are curious to see the whole room, check out the video where the player Rookguardian de'Bove was sent inside the place by the tester Andrej Delany in the end of a test server in 2009.
